Eco-neighbourhood of Saint Ouen
Previously an industrial zone, the docks of Saint Ouen have now been refurbished into an eco-neighbourhood. Urban heating is powered by 70% renewable energy sources. Several houses have been built using sustainable materials. This neighbourhood also prides itself for having shared gardens. Moreover, it will soon have a park which will be inaugurated at the end of the year. A true “green lung”, this park will contribute to the improvement of the air quality. Stretching more than 100 hectares, this eco-neighbourhood is also taking part in a social movement, as the proposed housing includes social housing. Knowing that more and more people are forced to life in towns, it seems commendable that the new emerging neighbourhoods are taking part in an environmental movement.
